The Sims 4 received quite a lot of criticism for not featuring loads of the content that the Sims 3 did, for seemingly no reason. I was one of those people who gave it that criticism, because really, they took out so much cool stuff – like swimming pools. And now, the reason we all guessed at has been confirmed – the first Sims 4 expansion pack has been announced.

The expansion is called ‘Get to Work’, and will add a handful of activities to the base game. You can now get to work saving lives with the ‘doctor’ career path, that, for the first time ever, now lets you deliver babies, too. Cool, I guess.

You can also combat crime – investigate crime scenes, interrogate other sims and work your way up from a Cadet to the Chief of Police in the career path. And, finally, you can be a scientist, inventing crazy contraptions can apparently be a lot of moral pressure – sure, you’ll work at Science Lab, but outside of that lab you still have the ability to go crazy with a Sim Ray, if that’s what you’re into.

There are also going to be a handful of new retail businesses you can buy, customise in build mode, select what items to sell and manage employees. It actually sounds pretty awesome, and businesses include bakeries, clothing boutiques, art galleries, bookstores, and more. You might even be able to use new skills to help out there, too – you can now capture sweet photos with the photography skill, and bake and decorate cakes with baking skill. That’s pretty cool, I guess.

There are also, finally, aliens. Best. Ever. But I’ll let you check that one out for yourself.
