Skip Barber Challenge Trophy | 2023 | Rounds 11 & 12 | Phillip Island | iRacing
Tonight marks Rounds 11 and 12 of the 2023 Skip Barber Challenge Trophy as brought to you on iRacing; hosted by Gone Skippin’ Racing and sponsored by Musical Money with the aim of keeping the Skippy alive!
For tonight’s pair of rounds the paddock heads back to Australia for the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit. Located on the island after which it takes its name, the circuit has an extensive 95 year history which has gradually seen it evolve from a road course into today’s modernised circuit; all whilst playing host to major domestic and international championships including Supercars Championship and Superbike World Championship. Its current 2.76 mile layout is an unrelenting combination of 12 corners which mixes high-speed sweepers with tight hairpins meaning that the utmost precision shall be demanded of our drivers lap after lap; and the risk of mistakes is never too far away!
As for the drivers’ championship; back-to-back second place finishes at Summit Point last week have enabled Nathan Wade to extend his championship lead further to 144 points. Rasmus Vuori leads the chase, but with only five points separating him from rivals Steffen Herrmann and Cristian Pérez, can the trio put aside their intense battling for the right to be the number one contender to close down Wade’s advantage? Or will Wade be able to once again stay one step ahead of his pursuers and increase his advantage further given his burning desire to return to the top step of the podium once more?
How will our drivers get on as we bring the first half of the season to a close? Tune in and find out!
