Skip Barber Challenge Trophy | 2023 | Rounds 3 & 4 | Sebring | iRacing
Tonight marks Rounds 3 and 4 of the 2023 Skip Barber Challenge Trophy as brought to you on iRacing; hosted by Gone Skippin’ Racing and sponsored by Musical Money with the aim of keeping the Skippy alive!
With the dust having settled from our opening pair of rounds, our drivers remain in the United States but head to the state of Florida for Sebring International Raceway. Established on the site of a former Second World War airfield, what this circuit lacks in elevation and road camber, it makes up for in its rough and rugged road surface. With a significant portion of the road surface retaining the original concrete runway surface sections which contrast sharply with other sections’ smooth asphalt surface, this circuit shall place a major strain on the endurance of both driver and machine. All this is before considering the circuit’s wide variety of corners and straights over its 3.7 mile length!
In terms of the drivers’ championship, after two rounds Nathan Wade’s double-podium at Charlotte has seen him take an early lead by four points over last week’s Feature race winner Cristian Pérez. However, with so many drivers experiencing mixed fortunes in the opening pair of rounds, especially pole sitter Rasmus Vuori who currently sits in eleventh, it is too early to tell whether we have some emerging favourites in the championship. Wade will undoubtedly be looking to build upon the momentum he established last week and open up a lead, but could one of his rivals potentially be the star of the show tonight?
How will our drivers get on in the sunshine state? Tune in and find out!
