Skyrim 100% Maximized Legendary Playthrough - 229. Kindred Judgment and Marrying Serana
2The Dawnguard questline climaxes in this video as we confront Harkon with Auriel's Bow. The fight against Harkon is disappointing for a couple of reasons. First, we would ideally like to fight him in Vampire Lord form, as this is supposed to be the epic showdown between two Vampire Lords, but it's just not possible on Legendary difficulty. Just like last video when we were grinding perks, because Serana is with us our Drain Life spell is useless, so we would have to do it melee mode. Unfortunately Harkon's Drain Life spell drains health just like ours does, and on Legendary it's just not really possible to drain his health with melee attacks faster than he can recover it. Plus having to use Auriel's Bow when he retreats to Molag Bal's altar means we would have to keep shifting between forms anyway, so we just have to settle for killing him in human form. With our weapons and armor that's a pretty trivial feat, but the other frustrating aspect here is that it's not possible to soul trap him. I would love nothing more than to add the soul of an ancient Vampire Lord to my collection, but because his death is scripted once he loses all health Soul Trap just doesn't work. It makes for a bit of an anticlimactic battle, but we'll roll with it.
After killing him we visit the castle inhabitants again to get their take on things, and they all have surprisingly little to say about the fact that I've just slain the lord they have served for several centuries. Regardless, our next task is then to head back to the Soul Cairn and inform Valerica that it is safe for her to return. We would have done this anyway, but this step is required by the Marriable Serana mod we're using before we can marry her.
With that done we head back to Whiterun to clean up, and while there don an Amulet of Mara and at long last make our proposal to Serana. She agrees, and we're off to Riften for our wedding. I must say I'm vastly disappointed at the turnout for our wedding. We've befriended quite a few people across Skyrim in this playthrough, but only four show up. It's just Faendal, our longtime follower, Andurs from Whiterun, Elgrim from Riften, and then Hestla from Volkihar Keep of all things. Nevertheless, we have finally achieved our goal that we've effectively been working on ever since we got all skills to 100 and crafted our weapons and armor of Ultimate Power - we've married Serana. And with her by our side we stand ready to conquer the rest of the game.
