Skyrim 100% Maximized Legendary Playthrough - 236. Frostflow Lighthouse
Having acquired the Agent of Dibella effect last video, today we're after yet another permanent effect to add to our strength. After a badly needed sort n' sell, we head up to the frozen highlands of Winterhold to visit Frostflow Lighthouse. This is one of those locations that no one ever mentions or sends you to, you just have to visit to see what's going on.
What we find when we walk in the door is that something has obviously gone terribly wrong. There's a dead body and blood all over the floor, and we get a miscellaneous quest to solve the murders. Finding various journals in the house pinpoints the basement as the source of the trouble, and sure enough we find one of the walls has been broken through, which leads us into a frozen tunnel system. Those wacky Falmer are at it again, so we're off to clear out another Falmer nest.
The rest is pretty straightforward, and the biggest challenge by far is harvesting everything here. The number of chaurus eggs to harvest here goes well beyond the description "ludicrous". It's so excessive the only appropriate word for it is just silly. With our Green Thumb perk we end up walking out with nearly a thousand eggs, to say nothing of the amount of glowing mushroom we also pick up.
In the end the murders are "solved" by encountering the very large chaurus at the end of the cavern. It's carrying Habd's remains, and picking up on the clue in one of the journals we take it to the light at the top of the lighthouse. Putting the remains into the fire nets us the Sailor's Repose effect, making all our healing spells heal an additional 10% more.
I will say I really appreciate this location and it's associated quest. It very much feels like a different hand was at work designing things here compared to the rest of the game. There are lots of nice little touches that you just don't see elsewhere - figuring out from clues in the journals that the key to the basement is hidden in the urn over the fireplace, figuring out you need to put Habd's remains into the fire to get your reward, etc. The physical design of the place feels different also. On the outside of the lighthouse is a locked shed with some minor treasure inside. It's a very small thing, but you don't encounter anything else like it in the rest of the game. Even the Falmer tunnels feel different from other Falmer tunnels in the game in ways I can't quite pinpoint. It's one of my favorite locations, and we end the video enjoying the view from the top of the lighthouse over the Sea of Ghosts.
