Fort Frostmoth is a small fortress located southeast of Raven Rock and northeast of Old Attius Farm. There are several ash spawn located both outside and inside. The fort is home to General Falx Carius.

The outside of the fort holds little of interest. Inside the initial entrance is the barracks, which is filled with assorted pieces of armor and ruined beds. To the left is a ladder to the roof, to the right is a passage leading deeper into the fort. To the right as you enter the next room is the skeleton of Maximian Axius. He has a letter in his hands, the last of several others which can be found in the satchel next to him along with his quill and inkwell. Elsewhere in this room, besides some sacks and barrels, is a passage blocked by a web, a storeroom with a leveled lock, a door which requires a key, and a passageway further on.

On the other side of the webs are five spiders guarding seven of their egg piles. Two heart stone deposits and three ruby geodes can also be found here.

In the storeroom is various junk, including twenty-six bottles of assorted liquor, eight wheels of cheese, and a barrel with eight samples of moon sugar, as well as loot in an unlocked chest.

The passageway leading farther into the fort is lined with coffins, none of which hold anything of significance. It leads to a room with more coffins, two of which are stacked into a makeshift table in the middle of the room. Leaning against it is a knapsack with assorted other items and a key to the locked door seen previously.[verification needed— Key might only be there during the quest] On top of the coffins is a journal and an apothecary's satchel. Just past the coffins is an unlocked chest with loot next to a magicka potion and a leveled magical sword.

Back through the door that required a key is a large, ruined room. It includes a door back outside (which you now have the key for), as well as several books on the shelves of two cupboards, including Varieties of Faith in the Empire. A healing potion can be found on a table on top of a wooden tray, and two stronger ones are on a cupboard next to a chest filled with loot
