SlimKirby's NES Marathon - Introduction
65Welcome to August 2016, a month I will be dubbing the "NES Marathon."
During this month, I will only be covering NES games on my channel. Why? Well....let's just say the NES is a very interesting system for me. I had always wanted one and sought one out, but I never had a chance to get one. So for the longest time, I had no way of playing classics like the original Legend of Zelda or Metroid. It wasn't until (in most cases) the Virtual Console on Nintendo's Wii system before I got to experience these games. Basically, I had missed out on a very essential platform of gaming as the NES was pretty much the first home gaming console....or at least the first one with the most success moving forward from that point.
However, even though I didn't grow up with those games, I would like to share them and my experiences with these games with you guys. I feel like I can contribute a unique perspective being a somewhat old gamer, but not the oldest type of gamer. That and...it might just be fun going back to examine the roots of some of my favorite game series. So that's exactly what I'm going to do.
On the morning/afternoon of August 1st, I'll start the first game. I will do daily uploads of that game until I finish and then I'll start the next game on the following day after I've finished. This will continue until pretty much the end of August. I have 5 games lined up for you guys, with the potential of a 6th game being added to the mix as well. The NES Marathon will not end until at least August 30th (at the very earliest). If a game takes me a little longer than that to get through, I will continue it until beaten, even if the marathon goes into September. After that last game is finished, I'll move on to my next project (which will be Ocarina of Time) on the following day.
In the spirit of secrecy, I will not be revealing the games I have planned for you guys. Even though I may have mentioned them before in SlimKirby Central videos, let's have a little fun and keep the suspense going for individuals who may be unaware, so please no spoilers in the comments section!
But yeah, let's get this marathon started! Hope you guys enjoy!
