Small Talk Sunday 41: Chasing Ambitions, and the Possible Future of STS
I think I already touched on these topics before, but the STS thing is actually quite a something I've been considering for a good while. Exploring new types of games and seeing the many ways a video game can function is absolutely an interesting appeal to me. However, if I'm going to be perfectly honest, I do feel like I'm digging into a hole the more I dive further and further into producing FFXIV-only content, just as I was when I was making WoW content. I'm very well aware that YouTube *despises* variety channels that don't have an existing following, and thus new YouTubers trying to do an "I play everything" approach have one hell of a time trying to appease the algorithm. Shoot, my own channel shows hints of that already with the few other games I've played and uploaded.
I'm just really conflicted as to how to really approach this whole topic, and I know I kinda fumbled through it in this video. I've been wanting to do the variety thing for so long, but *man* does that conflict with my knowledge of how successful YouTube channels are grown, and I do very, *very* much want to have this channel succeed to actually, properly be considered a full-fledged job. I know there's the whole "JUST DO IT" approach, but I keep having doubts after my very brief experience with previous attempts.
Also yes: Small Talk Sundays do, in fact, strongly eat into my planned scheduling for things, including this one. And again: I know it's because of when I record the things, but that's also a result of having slipped up in the past with that and have been struggling with restoring my usual sleep schedule ever since. So, yeah, the Small Talk Sundays series is in danger of getting discontinued if I continuously fail to get it done much earlier, and the once-a-month upload rate is seeming a lot more appealing to me the longer it goes on.
