SMB: Remastered (Super Mario Maker 2)
0Although remakes of 1-1, 1-2, and other iconic levels are endemic in Super Mario Maker 2, CheetO's "SMB: Remastered" is the best recreation of the entirety of 1985's Super Mario Bros. that I have found in the annals of Mario Maker. Its level design is very faithful to the original, but the improved controls/physics unarguably change the feel of the game--for better or worse. That said, CheetO is not totally beholden to the source material as he has made many aesthetic improvements and tweaked certain sections, for example by replacing the Bowser encounters with koopalings in the first seven castles. Enemies such as pokeys, banzai bills, and the angry sun--which did not yet exist in 1985--also make an appearance, and there are five brand-new levels (a prologue, two ghost houses, and two airships) in addition to the 32 main levels. From running on top of the ceiling in 1-2 to exploiting the "infinite 1-UPs" trick in 3-1, I was sure to show off as much as possible of the memorable content that this super world has to offer.
