Played on emulator (RetroArch, GPGX core v1.7.4 [9529e91]). No turbo. Run starts ~0:32. Official timing stops at the end of credits ("Produced by KONAMI Co., Ltd.") but last input is ~3:01:33.

I don't normally do long speedruns, but this one is necessary to deliver MAXIMUM PLOT, courtesy of Hideo Kojima. It is vitally important. If you cannot handle it, I understand. I have plenty of other speedruns that contain far less plot. I'm sure you will find one to your liking.

This run is about 6.5 minutes faster than the previously fastest run by Pazuzu. Most of the time saved here is due to optimzing menuing, particularly reducing text to mash through. Essentially, each button press advances a single line of text, so reducing the line count is important. Some routing considerations were made to allow for stretches of full-speed mashing vs. sections where mashing speed should be reduced to avoid menuing errors.

The only significant blunders in this run are Room 3 (botched the last inputs) and Tunnel walk (should have been: look, listen, talk, talk, look, look, look). Otherwise, fine I guess, except for horrible Chief RNG, and shooting is always a mess lol.

There's not really much to note about the route, but there's one interesting thing at 1:05:15. It has to do with how the last Alice event is triggered in Gibson's living room: you may cancel your last action instead of doing something. So, there, I'm selecting INVESTIGATE - AROUND ROOM, but pressing B instead of C. That's the only trigger I found to work that way. Weird, but otherwise this is a perfectly normal video game.
