Once again I find myself playing a game in the Lord Monarch series. The game is simple, but pretty fun. But this last mission! It feels so random. You start at an extreme disadvantage in terms of space to grow. Seemingly the goal is to break down the barriers fast enough to let the monsters attack your neighbors. But whether they move in the right direction is totally random. In a few tries, White player managed to get exterminated without me doing anything at all. This is the sort of game that I probably would play more of, except I played a later game in the series that added a barebones storyline between levels. As bad as the story was, playing without any story definitely feels lacking. This one has what looks like.. 8 or so map themes. I played the basic one after somehow I lost in 1 second in one of the later maps. It probably has some kind of mechanic I forgot about, like a stationary enemy standing next to my king that I didn't recognize.
