This is my Sonic 3 & Knuckles speedrun as Knuckles in 29:12, as timed by the RTA minus Time Bonus method. The run is timed in real time with the length of the time bonuses subtracted. For example, the 50000 time bonus counts down for 500 frames, or 8.33 seconds. This is the fairest way to time the game because it means you are never penalised for completing a stage faster, but time spent between stages (and paused) is also counted.

This run starts out merely average, but when it really counts from FB2 onwards it really picks up. Just about perfect on FB2, SO1 was ideal, then steady times from not-so-steady hands until the end of the game. Needed a very good LR2 to go past HDL's time, got it, and then clung onto the lead over his time by just two seconds! The final Metal Sonic fight has a chance of diving at you, which costs 5 seconds each time it happens - so one bit of bad luck could have cost me the record. Thankfully it didn't!
