Sonic Speed R - Announcing Games and Categories
11Sonic Speed R is the Sonic speedrun community's celebration of the last 25 years of Sonic games! We hope you'll come and join us, by blazing through his greatest hits in that time, starting June 1st!

Anyone can join at any time! Whether you've speedrun before or not, this event is a celebration of Sonic the Hedgehog history, and we want you to be part of it!

How to join a race
------------------
Each race will be conducted through SpeedRunsLive. Instructions on how to join SRL races can be found on their site: http://www.speedrunslive.com/faq/#join
SRL rules apply to all races. The relevant rules are below:
* All races are timed in real time - even those which would normally be timed in in-game time due to the time bonus issue.
* If you are using an emulator, you must be streaming.
* If you are not streaming, you can be proofcalled under SRL rules, and you will have to prove in some way that you have achieved the time you claim.
You can, of course, play alongside the racers otherwise. However, since we are using the SRL race results to collate our results, if you aren't part of the SRL race you will not be able to receive points in the competition.
When will races be held?

Each day there will be two races - one held at 8pm Central European Daylight Time, and another held at 8pm American Eastern Daylight Time. Afterwards, the results from these two races will be collated as though they occured at the same time and a final result for the day determined.
Scoring system
--------------
The objective in Sonic Speed R is to finish the month with as few points as possible. In each race, you will receive points equivalent to your rank in that race. In other words, 1st place gets one point, 2nd place two points, etc.
Not everyone will participate in every race, however. For each race a player does not participate in, they will receive a point score equal to the amount of players that have taken part in the competition. This scoring system therefore heavily incentivises taking part in as many races as you can!
