Wargroove Hard Mode Arcade run as Koji
Wargroove the newest turn-based strategy game released in 2019 is often compared to Nintendo's Advance Wars series, just like how Chucklefish's Stardew Valley series is often compared to Harvest Moon.
Arcade mode is a series of relatively quick battles, beating a series of maps earns achievement stars used to unlock concept art and the true final chapter in Campaign. If you only played it on hard, the less challenging 2 difficulties are automatically filled up.
If you've played any of the Advance Wars games and not this I will list out some major differences.
Capturing a building only takes 1 turn to complete but the bases have endurance HP. Their starting HP is 50% of the unit's HP who captured it. So a 10 HP unit is 5 HP to the building whereas a 2 HP unit is 1 HP to the building. Any unit who can attack except turtles and witches can disable the enemy's income by destroying their building to make it neutral but only infantry and commander units can capture buildings.
Winning a game can be done by defeating the enemy commander or Stronghold HQ.
Bases do NOT generate income, just Buildings and Stronghold HQ.
Critical Hits bonus varies from unit to unit and their conditions are also varied.
So Trebuchet (basically Advance Wars Rockets) can deal an extra 50% of damage if it hits an enemy who is 5 tiles away. I tried to use this in the second stage against Valder's Stronghold but if there is severe weather which is either storm, snow, sandstorm and can decrease the indirect range by 1.
Grooves are this game's CO powers. Their range is very limited so it doesn't affect every unit on the map. They also have different growth rates, but that can be sped up if you let the commander finish off an enemy or building. There isn't a daily ability effect at all other than they heal themselves 5% HP when starting a new turn, all of the units have no attack power boons and banes when using a commander.
Koji's groove has the ability to deploy 2 Sparrow Bombs. His charge rate is rated as slow and it really shows how I cannot abuse it as much as Nuru. When it is in action, they can be game changing if backed up with powerful (yet not fully healthy) offensive units.
Unlike Intelligent System's games, indirect damage such as Sparrow Bombs and Hex can kill opponents.
