About the song:
I don't know why, but I feel like I haven't made a proper remix in a long time. Just a short while ago I did Launch Base Act 2 (PC) and as I was about to start adding effects I started looking around my files and noticed Launch Base 2 was already done, and for a moment I thought "oh well, two versions of the same song isn't bad" but then I checked the DMF and it was much better than what I had just done. And then a while after, I did this. Now, in my defense, I was just about to add the finishing touches, but the fact of the matter is that the other one had much more attention to detail while the new one was very bare bones.
Anyways, this felt like a return to form in some ways, it has everything I regularly do and doing it refreshed my memory a bit. First you copy the notes, you get the timing and volume right, and then you add volume and tuning effects. In this case there was some distortion happening every so often, so I opted for some slight detuning here and there. The "PSG reverb", as I like to call it, had to be done near the end, since I need to be sure that the OFF notes are in the right place, otherwise it becomes very difficult to see what notes need to be fixed, if any. The length of the reverb depends a bit on the length of the silences, longer silences allow longer echo. Also, the vibrato's placement (how soon or late it starts) also depends on the length of the notes, shorter notes need earlier placement; and their values depend on their pitch, higher pitched notes sound better with wider vibrato values (pitch, not speed). Of course, the volume macros' length depends on the song, and so does the manual volume decays, which I use when the notes are way too long. I also had to use Audacity to hear those ultra fast notes, they don't actually go up in half steps like I thought initially.
