Sonic CD's version of Labyrinth is thankfully 100x easier. There's a distinct above and below water section in each zone, and it's very easy to find ways out of the water. Because of the Sega CD's limitations with music loading, the drowning theme isn't in this game.
Zone 1 has this really neat volcano background right at the beginning that never shows up again. It's never been stated, but I'm pretty sure it's lifted from R2. Why else would there be random volcanoes in a water level for two seconds?
