Sonic Mania Plus: Encore Mode Part 11: Metallic Madness Zone (Team Super)
542Much like what Encore Mode did to the colors of Stardust Speedway Act 2, Encore Mode also changes the colors of Metallic Madness to make it look more like the main colors of its Bad Future form in the original Sonic CD. This is made much more obvious in Act 2, as Act 1 in Sonic CD never had any outdoor graphics in the Bad Future background like they show in Sonic Mania.
The complexity of this zone made me very sure that I missed some big Special Stage rings in both Acts. I only found one in Act 2 out of curiosity.

After beating the Act 2 boss, a new zone transition is shown that was added to the "Plus" patch of Sonic Mania as a whole. The heroes go into a different room and look up into the background. They see the Titanic Monarch itself being under-construction as a dark foreboding thunderstorm looms over it.
If Tails is here when this cutscene happens, he'll jump everytime lighting strikes. "HE'S AFWAID OF LIGHTNING!"
