Sonic Unleashed - 360 - Tornado Defense Act 2
Eggmanland

Tornado Defense Act 2
There are two Tornado Defense challenges in this game: one at the beginning, after Sonic finds Tails in Apotos, and another one when Tails brings Sonic to Eggmanland. As I've been requested Tornado Defense Act 2, that's what you'll be seeing here. I personally don't like the music nearly as much as the first one, though it's still pretty fun. Of course, as TV Tropes goes, your mileage may vary.
Tornado Defense is about Tails flying Sonic somewhere on his biplane, the Tornado. Eggman finds them in the skies and sends large groups of flying robots after Sonic and Tails. Tails must shoot them down, which means you must press the button indicated on the screen before they pass by. It sounds simple enough...though one thing that the Xbox controller has that I'll probably never get entirely used to is that the B button is to the right of the A button instead of to the left, which is how Nintendo's controllers have traditionally done things. As a result, I often press the B button when it asks for the X button and vice versa. The Shield gauge on the bottom left is the Tornado's health bar; it can no longer fly if it reaches 0%. The Energy bar on the right represents the regenerating power reserves on the Tornado. It's there to prevent mashing the buttons, since doing that will quickly deplete it.
At the end, Eggman goes after Sonic and Tails himself in the Egg Cauldron, a floating fortress and carrier. The Quick Time Events continue here, where you must press the buttons as they appear on screen. This time, they come at the Tornado at a faster rate, and you must also respond to the button commands pointed into the Egg Cauldron when the front hatch opens, as that's how you damage it. A timer appears on the left; these mean different things between the Tornado Defense sequences. In Act 1, the Egg Cauldron goes crashing down by itself. In Act 2, the Egg Cauldron gets charged to full power and automatically destroys the Tornado.
Surviving this is pretty easy. Getting a high score is very hard. The margin of error for an S-Rank is very small, and I pretty much lucked out getting this one. You see the combo counter on the right? That accounts for 90% of your score, or even more. Each normal target struck gives you a small amount of points without a combo, but after that, the values start increasing. Soon, each craft destroyed can net you thousands of points. (The faster you react, the greater the point value.) A combo breaks when you press the wrong button or the Tornado gets struck, but not when a target flies by. You can see my combo reset at 113 at 3:01 because I press the X button after the craft has flown by, then twice against the Egg Cauldron: One for (once again) confusing the X and B buttons and another by continuing to shoot into the Egg Cauldron after the hatch closed.
I'll bet that if someone can manage an unbroken combo in this, a score of over 1 million would be possible. I broke my chain three times and got a score of about 700,000.
