This time for the Challenge we have a DS game costing just 50 pence boxed. This is Zenses: Ocean. A collection of puzzle games with ambient sounds & tied together with the Ocean theme. There is another in the series called Zenses: Rainforest & I believe a 3rd in the series was planned called Zenses: Garden but I don't think this one ever got released.
This has 6 different puzzle games - many of which also have a Bonus Round.
I quite like this collection. While I don't really "get" Pearl Diver as the positioning of the Pearls seems random meaning there appears to be little strategy some of the others like Turtle Turn (awkward to play the bonus round through the viewfinder but strangely compelling) & Shell Twirl are ace & I'm looking forward to playing them more. Zen Stones seems fun too but Hot Spot was pretty dull. This vide is pretty much my first go on most of these although a couple of the mini games I had to re-shoot as the camera either lost focus or cut the recording.
Capturing from a DS is a bit of a pain (I wish there was an easy video out for capture as there are loads of DS games I love) so I've tried to film both screens & keep the stylus out of the way as much as possible which combined with playing through the camera viewfinder screen makes it all a bit awkward - plus probably makes your frustrated when I miss some obvious moves etc. Hopefully gives a flavour of the game though.
I also found some utter bargains on PS2, PS1 & original BOX which I'll share shortly.
SONIC'S QUID GAME CHALLENGE RULES
This is just a fun challenge I'll be trying through 2022 to keep things fresh. I'm challenging myself to find a Game (or games) at the price of £1 or less each week) with a view to making a video. It is probably easily doable if you just buy older Fifa and other sports titles but I'm going to try to avoid the obvious.
The fun will be seeing how many games & how many formats & how many fun experiences £50 can get you in a year as opposed to just buying 1 brand new title.
I'll try to film buying the game etc but it isn't always possible. Games will be sourced from shops that have pre-owned sections, market stalls, charity shops & more
Most episodes will just feature the Game & the details of where the game was bought and the price etc Because it is a new series of videos I wanted to explain the rules I imposed on myself.
This video will sit alongside my semi regular other content - it won't replace it. I'll try to do regular videos on this but can't promise I will manage to make it a regular weekly thing although I will try to stick to it. Should be 50 videos over the year (plus bonus content!)
I also will be buying the games - no trade ins or trade ups. If this series is popular I may look at a series doing exactly that next year - i.e. starting with £1 & seeing what I can buy & trade in & buy & trade in etc
Also - let me know what you think. I'm keen to experiment.
I'm also sorting my loft and finding all sorts of obscurities, oddities and nice games from my collection so I'll be doing some random vids. Let me know if there is a console or game you'd like to see. Let me know if there are any games or consoles you'd like videos about. Let me know if you like the format (i.e. no voiceover and the addition of short facts). Want End Cards added to point out other similar videos? I'm just trying things really.
As always if you enjoy this video let me know.
As always - genuine hardware - in this case a 3DS XL playing an original DS cartridge.
As always this is uploaded under the Fair Use Policy - no money is being made from this video.
