Squid Game - the hard hitting Homebrew Game on the Sega Megadrive
I hope you are all healthy and safe wherever you are in the World right now and whatever challenges you are facing.
I've never seen the show but I'm aware of it (plus the name has given me an idea for an unrelated series of videos for my channel) . Well this is a HomeBrew Game based on the show and while the premise is simple it is really, really fun and gets very tense. Move your character to the right but don't let the girl at the top see you move!
This is my first go at it & I found I was holding my breath every time she turned round!
It is the work of a developer called Pigsy. He has a youTube Channel where is documenting his progress in porting two amazing games to the Megadrive - the GG Shinobi (from the Game Gear) & more ambitiously than that he is also aiming to port the seminal "Symphony of the Night" from PS1 to Megadrive & is documenting his progress on his channel.
If you have any interest at all in these series or the Megadrive or independent development & the retro community (& given you are watching this you likely do!) then definitely go check out his channel on this link:

On the day before Xmas Eve he rather generously provided a video and a link to a lot of his demo's showing various progress such as using the much under utilised Shadow & Highlight trick on the Sega hardware among other things. These are all shown on his channel so go check them out there. It really is impressive stuff. Pigsy has also enlisted the help of some noted developers and specialist's from the community such as Pyron who you may know from his colour Hacks on the system & Alianger who does some stunning chiptunes.

Also among these files were a little Xmas Gift from Pigsy himself - a simple game based on the hit TV Show "Squid Game" which I play here and a rather special little version of his work on Castlevania so far to capture the Holiday spirit. This is shown in one of my other videos. Enjoy
As always if you enjoy this video let me know. As always this is running on original hardware in this case a Sega CDX/MultiMega via a Everdrive Flash Cart. Also let me know if there are particular games or systems you'd like to see.
As always this is uploaded under the Fair Use Policy - no money is being made from this video.
