The Sion is the first series-produced car that can additionally charge its battery using solar power. A car charging itself – a Solar Electric Vehicle.
Thanks to 248 solar cells seamlessly integrated into the body, the Sion can charge its battery during the day through the power of the sun and can generate up to 34 kilometers of additional range per day. With a range of 255 kilometers according to WLTP standard, you can also cover longer distances trouble-free. For effortless mobility.
Powered by the sun
Thanks to more than 248 solar cells seamlessly integrated into the body of our solar car, the Sion can charge its battery during the day through the power of the sun. In Germany, for example, up to 35 kilometers of additional range per day can be generated purely by solar energy (depending on weather conditions). Full self-sufficiency on short distances.
Flexible Charging
It usually takes 30 minutes to charge up to 80% at a fast charging station. Additionally, the Sion can be recharged at any public charging station in Europe, including your regular power socket at home – or any other Sion. Thanks to a bidirectional onboard-charger, the Sion will be able to share its power to recharge other electric vehicles.
The Sion's liquid cooled battery has a capacity of 35 kWh, which enables you to drive 255 kilometers according to WLTP standard on a single charge – depending on the weather and your driving style. The perfect range for everyday use.
Sleek Interior
With it's comfortable interior with plenty of space and a generous boot, the Sion offers plenty of room for you and your needs. And at the same time you can focus on the essentials: The clearly structured, understated interior design of the Sion impresses with its intuitive useability. The infotainment system with integrated connectivity and mobility services can be controlled centrally via the 10-inch touch display.
Power To Go
Thanks to the bidirectional charging technology, you can use your Sion as mobile energy storage wherever you are. While camping, on the construction site, or simply at home. A regular household plug can be used to power all common electronic devices with up to 3.7 kW. The car can deliver even more power when using a Type 2 plug, powering high-voltage devices with up to 11 kW.

DIY is back. Standard replacement parts can be changed by yourself without needing much prior knowledge.
By publishing a workshop handbook, we make it possible to establish an extensive network of independent mechanics.

Sustainability became a buzzword. Well, for us it isn’t. We care about the earth, climate friendliness and the impact Sono Motors and the Sion will have on this planet. To reduce our and your footprint to a minimum, we will offset all unavoidable CO₂ emissions produced throughout the Sion manufacturing process. And, by the way, your Sion is going to be produced with 100% renewable energy.
