By now many of you have heard about Sony acquiring Crunchyroll this week. There's both good news and bad news tied to this. Obviously a merged subscription is a win and you'll have to pay less money, but monopolies aren't good either. The reason its good to have multiple companies doing the same service is because, it forces them to innovate. If Sony controls all of the West's anime market then there's no reason to innovate.
