So PlayStation wants the PS5, in fact all their platforms to be the best place to play 3rd party games. They want to include exclusive perks to playing games on their platform so their console stands out the most giving their players the BEST experience out there. We have the facts on how they execute this and their plans that have continued to work and flourish and we will talk about all that but first

Now lets get started with some comments made by Shawne Benson in an interview with Games Industry.biz
As you know 3rd party deals have become pretty normal for PlayStation especially in the PS5 generation, and it looks like that will not be ending. In fact Sony is looking to make the PlayStation versions of 3rd party games stand out more than any other platform and While you may instantly think they are paying for a superior version that is absolutely not the case. What sony aims for is leveraging the benefits and perks of the PS5 hardware. Whether that be Haptic feedback, 3D audio or their absurdly fast SSD.
Shawne says “So as Sony assess opportunities, its often less about securing exclusivity as it is about making the PlayStation version stand out as the one to get”
“what kind of innovation can they apply with the haptics in the DualSense or the adaptive triggers? What could they do with 3D audio in the sound design of a game? So there’s a lot of things we could do and then create marketing stories around, and that’s where some of these partnerships for multiplatform games really focus.”
And to be clear they don’t specifically pay for these features to be adopted unless they consider it a good PlayStation story that can further be pushed as a marketing advantage.
Its very clear that Sony is doing everything in their power to make the PS5 stand out as the premiere platform for all games even if they don’t have timed or permanent exclusivity.
We see this in games like Hogwarts Legacy, where the 3d audio, adaptive triggers and haptic feedback are all leveraged giving a truly superior experience than any other platform. While they may seem like gimmicks they actually stand to offer a more immersive experience when delivered in the right way.
Now this goes a step even further if you are a PSVR 2 owner as games like Resident Evil 4 Remake will be offering a free VR experience if you own the game. This is not the only game to do this, which is also why we continue to see PlayStation lead as the best place to play, as they give far more value to consumers by giving more features to developers to work with.
We will continue to see this as we move forward in this generation, truly showing that you as a consumer who invested in the PlayStation 5 platform made a great choice as you will be getting not only better performance on 3rd party titles but in addition more immersion through features that only the PlayStation 5 offers.
Sony truly knows what they are doing and it seems with each generation they refine and deliver some of the greatest experiences that we continue to see in gaming.
