Space Engineers: drone A* navigation auto docking to a ship interior
Navigation graph has two types of nodes - normal and entry. Entry nodes act as a transition points between outside world and navigation mesh. For undocking, the carrier selects the closest normal node as starting point, and the closest to world destination entry node as goal point. For docking, it's vice versa - picking entry node that is closest for drone, and normal node closest to assigned dock connector. Then A* algorithm finds the shortest path and sends it to a drone as a sequence of relative waypoints.
