Space Engineers: Railway test
4First full run in Space Engineers on my new railway system designed to move people and goods from my main base to an outpost on the other side of the mountain (about 1.5km of tunnel).
A little bit of a shudder near the end that made me slow down. I think it was caused by the hitbox of the wheel somehow interacting with the ground below the track as that has previously caused a problem on initial attempts.
The tunnel was dug using a planetary miner I designed for digging out the chambers and tunnels of the base, I will publish the design if anyone is interested but it really needs a redesign with some carefully arranged wheels on the sides to prevent smashing into the side of the tunnel as you're digging as with my newer vertical digger.
I've done a lot of the base in Survival mode but some things like the larger rocket banks, the rail line and all my vehicles are made and pasted in with the creative tools.
More videos to follow as I refine the base and railway, i'm thinking it would be good to launch fighters using the rail system ala the classic scifi shows, a rollercoaster would work too i think ...
