Sparky Linux is a lightweight desktop-based Linux distribution based on Debian. It aims to ease system resources and can breathe new life into old computers.
Sparky is a unique distribution in the sense that it provides both stable and test Debian editions. In general, Sparky is not aimed at Linux beginners, but rather users with some knowledge of Linux.
The stable release features ISOs with different desktop environments such as LXQt, Xfce and KDE. They also offer a semi-rolling version that is based on the Debian test branch and features more up-to-date packages.
And the semi-rolling version comes with the same desktop environments as the stable version plus the MATE desktop environment.
Now, the second update of the 6 series, SparkyLinux 6.2, is out.
What's New in SparkyLinux 6.2
SparkyLinux 6.2 is an updated system from Debian and Sparky stable repositories as of Feb 8, 2022.
This update brings Linux kernel 5.10.84 (5.15.5 can be installed from Debian backports; 5.16.8~sparky can be installed from Sparky unstable repositories).
SparkyLinux 6.2 also ships with Firefox 91.5.0.0esr (91.6.0esr available as an update; 97.0 Mozilla build can be installed from Sparky repositories as the 'firefox-sparky' package, but it uses a new user profile to that your bookmarks, passwords , settings have to be synced from your Mozilla account).
To top it off, the system brings Thunderbird 91.5.0, VLC 3.0.16, LibreOffice 7.0.4, LXQt 0.16.0, Xfce 4.16, Openbox 3.6.1-9, KDE Plasma 5.20.5, and minor improvements.

Sparky 6 is available in the following flavors:
amd64 : LXQt, KDE Plasma, Xfce, MinimalGUI (Openbox) and MinimalCLI (text mode)
i686 : LXQt, MinimalGUI (Openbox) and MinimalCLI (text mode)
armhf : Openbox and CLI (text mode ) ) of text)
System reinstallation is not necessary; if you have Sparky 6.x installed, do a full system upgrade:
sparky-upgrade
or:
sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade
or through the System Upgrade tool.
The SparkyLinux 6.2 ISO image can now be downloaded by going to the distribution's download page .
