Spidey prepares to board a train departing from Hammerhead's trainyard as he catches mysterious trenchcoat-clad figure with briefcase climbing aboard, but is stopped as Sandman gets involved and tries to stop our hero from reaching the train before it leaves. Despite Sandman's efforts, Spidey manages to board the train and learns that he has actually been chasing super-powered mercenary named Beetle who briefly taunts Spider-Man before escaping the moving train with the briefcase and leaving his trenchcoat behind. Upon inspecting it, Spidey finds an invitation to a science expo gala event and decides to pursue further leads there.
