Splatoon 2: Cramming in the eggs in HLM Salmon Run [35-30-45, 45/706]
Eek, Hazard Level Max! I've not been in one of these outside of having Grizzco weapons in a long time. I'm sure everything is fine. Hence the scary music. At least I've got a weapon I'm obviously very good with. I don't need it for the first boss, which I still manage to make a mess of, so I head back to the basket and hold court, looking to use my range. A Maws gives us easy eggs, a Steelhead is perhaps splatted too far away, but there are plenty of Steelheads to give us closer eggs. In fact, there are eggs everywhere, and I'm good at collecting them. Certainly better than timing a full charge with the E-litre 4K. I just let my squidmates do the splatting and grab more eggs.
I have the Squeezer for the second wave, and I'm trying to pump each shot to make full use of it. My aim even seems steady enough for that to be practical, pretty sweet. A couple of Stingers cause us no problems, but a Chum follows me around, smacking me with a frying pan for a bit longer than I'd prefer. I'd rather focus on the Drizzler, though, which gets rid of the rain and drops eggs right next to the basket. Bringing two Scrappers up near the basket continues the easy-egg motif, but I uncharacteristically miss a Maws to lose a few eggs. I get a bit tense when my single shots don't ink the turf as quickly as I'd like and switch to mutli-shot mode, which gets me splatted by a Cohock. There's a lesson in there somewhere.
I am revived nicely and revert back to single shots, helping splat a Steel Eel for some last-second eggs, before moving on to the third wave. I have the .52 Gal, the most straightforward of the weapon selection, and head down to the low-tide shore. Great Zapfish bless my squidmates for pulling that Scrapper back to the basket, it makes such a difference, and the Steel Eel becoming two is actually pretty handy. Stinger is met by Sting Ray, our Specials coming out in the final wave, an Inkjet getting to a Flyfish before me. I'm not even mad.
A couple of Smallfry nibble my toes, which is irritating, but a Splat Bomb Rush gets rid of them, and after collecting another egg I find my moment to unleash the first Splashdown. I'm tempted to use the second one on another Drizzler, but the second Sting Ray deals with that easily. Along with more Scrappers lured to the basket, we have an egg-fest there, which I'm only too happy to deal with. I have time to grab one more egg before using my Splashdown to clear some last-second salmonid, before we celebrate what has turned out to be a very successful run. Woomy!
