Splatoon 2: Keeping the Suction-bomb Bandit at bay in Tower Control [15(3)-5, Heavy Splatling Remix]
Some quick movement gets me to the ceiling above the Tower nicely, but I have to deal with an inkling lobbing Suction Bombs my way to keep me at bay. It's working, which is a bit annoying, so I try to throw my ink their way in retaliation, but it doesn't quite reach from this angle. Moving across helps, as does my squidmates riding the Tower, drawing the Suction-bomb culprit to the lower level, where they become a sitting target. A B-bomb gets me another splat and helps to keep the Tower moving. I sit back and use my range to try to keep the flank clear, but a skirmishing squidmate ahead is doing the trick, so I just wander forwards to attack from behind.
The Tower stalls and is recovered a couple of times, and as Tenta Missiles force me backwards I jink and push up the middle again. The Suction-bomb Bandit is here again, but a Point Sensor helps me splat them efficiently, and my change in approach once again helps surprise a couple of other inklings. We push the Tower by increments as the green team's efforts to stop us become more aggressive, and before long I find myself trapped in ink and unable to do anything.
We are all splatted in quick order, resetting the Tower, and as I realise I'm alone for the moment I simply hold my range and ink turf. I watch and wait for an opportunity to drop behind the Tower, and do well to stop it moving a little. The Tower itself provides cover, stopping my ink from being that effective, and the lack of turf control around me gives me little escape room as the bucket hunts me down. So it goes.
I do what I can to recapture turf on my return, happy to see squidmates doing the same, before hopping across to the ledge to get back on the ceiling. The Suction-bomb Bandit is there again, along with a squidbagging squidmate of theirs, who I tag with Thermal Ink but managing little else. That is, until the Bandit pokes their beak around the side of cover, cutting off their escape route as they do. That's a sweet splat.
My squidmates are riding the Tower forwards again, and doing an excellent job of it. They are close to extending our lead, so it's good that I have a B-bomb at the ready, but a bit unlucky that the last of my squidmates is splatted a moment before it envelops them. Not quite realising this, I push forwards, thinking I'm pushing our advantage, but in reality just moving towards my inky doom. I return along a defensive route, expecting the Tower to come our way, and it doesn. I stop the Splattershot nicely, but become an easy target for the Tri-slosher in the process.
The green team come our way a little longer, but the Tower is cleared by the time I am back in range, letting me spot the bucket trying to flank us. They nearly do too, as my positioning isn't great to stop them, and their sloshing can reach me. I'm happy to have a squidmate below me to stop the bucket and keep me safe, particularly as the Tower is under green control again. I honour my squidmate's sacrifice by repositioning to apply direct pressure to the Tower, helping to clear it and turn it around just as the ten-second countdown begins.
I stick with my defensive position, only needing to stop maybe one final push now, but the bucket is wise to me. Thats okay, to be fair, as their focus on me takes their focus away from the Tower, which my squidmates assault and claim as their own, to secure us the victory. The Tri-slosher's look at the end says it all. Woomy!
