Splatoon 3: Scraping through to a big splat in Salmon Run [44-28-36-xs, 31/892]
Always take a punt that it's low tide, to give yourself a chance to be thrown off the egg basket. A Flipper is an easy start, but having the Lid stop so far away just gives us more Chum to splat. In the other direction is another Flipper, a bit distant, and a Steelhead, waddling closer. I move away, hoping they will approach, happy to see the Lid do just that. I splat it, moving on to a Fish Stick, wasting a bit of time throwing all three eggs, before dropping down to help around the basket. Another Fish Stick has eggs on it, and I grab two, not wanting to wait for the third, or for the Maws to eat me up there, and I come back to get more eggs in to the basket with greater efficiency. Another Flipper is simple in the open, a Drizzler fires a missile in a good direction, and a Steelhead clears all the turf around it. And, judging by the flying eggs, a squidmate has splatted a Big Shot and is using its cannon. Nice! We cram a bunch in to finish with a good total.
Ooh, the revamped Grizzco Charger! It seems as powerful and fast as before, but it gives much more of a kick, befitting the ink it projects. I like it. A Fish Stick has too many Trumpeters for the Charger, which is unsurprising, and I somehow misjudge the range when shooting a Stinger. Or not shooting it, I suppose. I reset, heading back to the basket, and try to help out, but I think I'm just too excited to have the Charger in my hands. Or too confident in its abilities, as it is my first opportunity using it. I get swamped by drizzle and a Big Shot's mortar, and am splatted. Less time to use the Charger! I am revived quickly, and head down to the jetties to help with the Big Shot. Big Shots, as it turns out. I don't know why I bothered launching that egg as I went either, as it wasted a lot of ink that I could really use. But at least we splat the Big Shots and start launching our eggs back to the basket. Judging by the Snatcher floating over the coast, maybe no one is at the basket to deliver them. It's always a risk with a Big Shot. I head back, as does my squidmate nearby, and we just about make quota. Good enough!
Goodbye Grizzco Charger, hello Carbon Roller. I'm not that great with it in Anarchy battles any more, but I still know what I'm doing with it. I help with a Flyfish first, delivering all its eggs, and move down to get more eggs back to the basket. I miss a second Flyfish, and am almost stung when waiting for a Drizzler, thankfully a Grizzco Charger helping out there. Not with the Stinger, though, so I move down to splat it. I don't have a great weapon for it, but it's fast, which helps. I throw eggs back, only for another Stinger to appear. That's okay, I have another Dolphin to use, which works great! Not against the Stinger, though, but it splats the Maws next to me when I hit the rail. It would be better still if I didn't get splatted when surrounded trying to get to the Stinger. Never mind, we reach quota, and my squidmates cram more eggs in during the final ten seconds. I'm revived too, to add one more egg, and job's a good 'un!
Except there's an emergency! What could it be? Oh, a Zuna. We've got this covered. A Fish Stick looks like a good source of eggs, until a Stinger and Big Shot appear too. Those are higher-priority targets. The Big Shot is splatted quickly, I don't know how, and the Stinger follows, as we avoid the Zuna's jump. I manoeuvre around its flopping belly to collect eggs to throw at it, retreating from another jump to find two Scrappers behind me waiting to be splatted. A Lid and Stinger add to our egg collection, and now it's just a matter of making them all hit. Thankfully, the Zuna hasn't been tempted away, and egg after egg smacks in to its scales. The eggs dry up, so I just shoot it, but am happy to see a Steelhead wander out of the goop. I'm less happy to wander in to it, trying to get a clear shot. I'm revived, and a B-bomb comes flying in, doing almost enough damage to splat the Zuna, just a little bit more to finish it off. We even get a bonus scale. Woomy!
