Splatoon 3: Random splats in Clam Blitz [8-6, Sploosh-o-matic]
An early push doesn't find the green team at all, until I head for the basket, jink back, and two splats drop in my lap. I'm splatted by the Bloblobber behind me, but I find that happens often with me and Bloblobbers. I can't complain too much, not when a squidmate scores to give us the early lead. More clams hit the basket, and I quickly gobble up some of my own, making a power clam, but only just sneaking under a Kraken spooks me enough to throw the clam early. It misses, and the Kraken turns around to splat me. So it goes.
I ink a defensive route back, which turns out to be a little over-cautious for the current threat level, so I push forwards. Clams fall in my lap, I don't think the green team see my flank, and I drop behind them for some more accidental splats. Nearly a wipeout too, but for that pesky Tri-stringer this time.
There follows a dumb error, a silly mistake that I could learn from to improve my battling. I forget I can throw my Hammer to end the Special weapon, and let me dunk my power clam, instead of hammering on and away from the basket. At least I come back and get some more splats, again almost by accident, contributing to a Wipeout. That leaves the basket open. So why do I not grab the spare clams lying around to make my own power clam, then score the dropped one, instead of grabbing the dropped one and scattering a few clams around? And then I miss the throw anyway! My goodness, what an idiot.
Some defensive inking next, including dodging a Kraken. The Kraken, of course, is heading for our basket, but I'm not smart enough to realise that, not until our barrier is broken. Never mind, more clams are mine! Or would be, if I didn't stumble in to a reverse-surprise splat. I return to a mutual splatting near our basket, and hang around, in case there's trouble. There isn't, not when I'm looking, but trying to move on finds some. I hold the fort over nothing, and decide to find opportunity, but it runs away with a power clam while the Tri-stringer shoots at me. I run away too.
I return to our basket, where surprisingly little is happening, hide from a Kraken which disappears, and teasingly push forwards in to green turf. I get to the basket missing a couple of clams, and can't find any others. A squidmate has some, so I start to share, but time runs out before they make a power clam, let alone break the barrier. But it seems we've done enough. It's a bit of an anti-climatic ending, but that's okay. I still get a fist bump. Woomy!
