Splatoon 3: A taste of Neo Machine in Tower Control [16(6)-7, Sloshing Machine Neo]
I'm trying out the Sloshing Machine Neo, as I like the Machine and the new kit looks pretty good. I survive the first thirty seconds mostly through luck, I think, as I struggle to follow inklings' movements or hit many shots, but when the Tower starts moving there is more of a natural target, and I get my first splat. My Trizooka gets me a second, but still we are mired in the central turf, neither side making any progress when I am splatted.
A blue Hammer wreaks some damage before I return, and I toss Point Sensors out to look for lurking inklings when a Triple Inkstrike comes in. I mis-time it a little. The blue team ride the Tower past our meagre lead, and keep going. I try to intercept, but the blue ink flying in forces me to where I don't want to be. I might get a hit on the Tower, but I am splatted easily in the process. My squidmates turn the Tower around, which is good, and I support from the ground, moving back up to use an Inkzooka. I'm a little disappointed that I only get an assist with it.
I move up as the Tower moves past the centre, only for it to turn blue. I splat one inkling away, but my manoeuvring is lacking, and I find myself in the path of a Hammer. I push the Tower a little next, doing well to start with but forced off by an Inkstrike, but I recover and splat the inkling looking for me, even if I fall off the grate in the process. I move up, hoping to press the Splat Charger, hitting the Splattershot instead by accident, and fall down again. That's okay, my squidmates are on the Tower. I move up and to the side to use my Trizooka, but I use it poorly, and am splatted when it runs out. So it goes.
My squidmates are doing great still on the Tower, and I head back to join them, just missing out as the Tower moves over a ledge. I shift back, splat an inkling trying to take the Tower, and hop on myself. I think it helps if I take a splatting for someone else. We had just taken the lead anyway, which is good, and my squidmates push it a little further, giving us a nice cushion in the final minute. I go in to defensive mode, which means trying not to make myself too vulnerable, but I don't think the blue team understand that.
They push the Tower again, with third seconds to go, and although I get tagged and feel unsafe, the blue team sensibly leave my retreat alone and focus on the Tower. That's what I need to do, so I head back, avoid an Inkstrike, and have a squidmate take a splatting for me this time. I won't let it be in vain, and jump on to the Tower, as one inkling is splatted by a squidmate, and I splat the other, securing the Tower for our team, and the victory. Woomy!
