Splatoon 3: Return to Salmonid Smokeyard in Salmon Run [33-31-31-xs, 32/1327]
I think this is my first return to Salmonid Smokeyard, having missed the first weekend shift. I've missed you, buddy. At least I remember all the little ledges need to be inked for quick escapes. We have time to do it before the bosses turn up, and the first few are simple enough, up until I need to splat the tail of a Steel Eel before the head reaches me. Of course, there are new bosses too, and Fish Fingers fly in as a Big Shot wanders on to shore. I splat one as I hope a squidmate deals with another, and I think they do, but if they did another Big Shot appears before long. I splat them, under threat of Stinger, and return to the basket so I don't get splatted, but once the Steel Eel is gone there are eggs aplenty to be shot from the cannon. Not much time to do it, though, but I get a few more back to the basket as the wave comes to a close.
The Flyfish doesn't stand a chance at the start of the second wave. Or so we think. A Scrapper turns up to actually make it awkward, but not by much, and they are both splatted. Stingers turn up to cause long-range problems, and I splat one, not quite having my timing right with the Tri-stringer, and get a ride on a Lid to avoid a Steel Eel, and move on to help with a Big Shot. A Drizzler and Flipper are splatted there too, leaving lots of eggs, and a distant Stinger making it difficult to shoot them. I fire a bunch and head back to the basket, where a splatted squidmate needs reviving amongst all the eggs. I help them out and start dunking, splatting a Scrapper to add to the eggs, and finally splat that Stinger that no one got too, right when it's too late.
Low-tide and a Splash-o-matic for the final wave, just right for a starting Stinger. Chewing through the Cohocks takes time, though, and that drags more bosses to the shore, leaving eggs far away from the basket. There will be more eggs, and closer too, as shown by the two Fish Fingers near the basket, but collecting those eggs is scuppered by a new Stinger, and I have to move on. Thankfully, a squidmate splats the Stinger, letting me stay near the basket, dealing with a Scrapper and finishing off a Steelhead, and despite the Flyfish, that's where I stay, splatting salmonids and dunking eggs. Naturally, I don't last to the end of the wave, one of the Flyfish being the end of me, but we clear the wave, and finish the Run nicely. Or do we?
In comes a Horrorboros, for low-tide Salmonid Smokeyard. I forgo my Big Swig Roller initially, pulling out a Crab to help with a Stinger and to hit the Boros directly, which seems to do the trick. But then I am Big Swigging, splatting a boss or two, getting eggs, and helping with the Boros when it comes back around. I miss a couple of shots, which isn't great, and, as I tend to do, end up focussing on splatting bosses instead of hitting the Boros, but I manage to strike a balance near the end, and get some good shots on target. I'm sure my squidmates did most of the damage, but the Boros is splatted, and we get some good scales for our efforts. Woomy!
