=== DESCRIPTION ===
I have very little experience trying to create anything in the style of Splatoon's music, but I have always loved the games' soundtracks and their unique blend of styles and musical genres. So after playing through Side Order repeatedly, attempting to complete it with every Palette, I was inspired to try to start making something that I felt could fit stylistically with some of Splatoon's other music.

This is probably the most chaotic song I have tried to make to date, the idea for it started with me placing down completely random notes on a piano roll then seeing how I could manipulate them to make something that sounded decent. In the end I ended up carrying that philosophy through pretty much the entire track, and I think I'm pretty happy with how it turned out given how unguided it started out.

I tried to tell somewhat of a narrative throughout the song, with a general theme of 'overcoming the system' very similar to Side Order, but with an original AI antagonist and in a different situation. So I suppose this could be seen as an alternate version of those events. That said I didn't really focus on any specific details of any narrative too much and I mostly just used that idea as a guideline for the structure of the song.

To be honest I do feel a little self conscious about this - I know a lot of people are *very* big fans of Splatoon and it's music, especially since the games manage to make almost every piece of music diegetic in some way, so as someone who is a much more casual player and not that deep into it's lore (or music theory) I am worried that I managed to get something wrong here. I didn't really put too much consideration into what lore I was trying to connect to, or what toes I'd be stepping on trying to do so, because I figured that since I don't have a complete enough understanding of the lore in the first place trying to do so would just cause issues. That said, I hope that even if this doesn't really fit with the games it can stand on it's own in some regard.

In regards to the video, this time it was quite difficult to figure out what to do with it. My original idea was creating a design for the alternate AI antagonist character that the song is loosely based around, but I realised very quickly that I am nowhere near a skilled enough artist or 3D modeller to do that without stressing myself out and delaying the release of this video indefinitely. So instead I opted to try using what I do have - Splatoon 3's Photo Mode and a capture card - to try and pull something together. I realise this is also a very flashy video, and usually that isn't really my thing but given the chaotic nature of the song and the theme being computer errors, I don't really know what else I could have gone for.

I also created a still-image version of this video with only a few of the effects that add a little animation, so I hope that can serve as a suitable alternative if you don't like or can't watch this one.

But with all that said, I hope that you like it!

This song uses a motif from Splatoon 2 heard in several songs in the Octo Expansion DLC, derived from the song 'Fly Octo Fly' as well as one from Splatoon 3's Side Order. Those songs, and all other references to Splatoon such as the background image, were created by and are copyrighted by Nintendo. This song is intended to be an adaptive work created for fun as a passion project, and all other melodies in the song are (to the best of my knowledge) original.
