*– VIDEO INTRODUCTION –*
This playthrough shows:
• a no-death run. (I intentionally crash on the third loop after showing off a snow area.)
There is no formal ending to the game.
*– GAME OVERVIEW –*
_Spy Hunter_ for the Nintendo Entertainment System is an overhead vehicular combat video game. The game was ported and published by Sunsoft. It was released in North America in September 1987.
Sunsoft is the video game division of electronics manufacturer Sun (Electronics) Corporation.
• _Spy Hunter_ began as a coin-operated video game for the North American arcade (AC) market. Developed and published by Bally Midway, it was released on June 11, 1983.
◦ Lead designer George Gomez – creator of pinball tables, toys and video games – found the inspiration for the title after listening to a tape of music from the _James Bond_ movies. (And originally, _Spy Hunter_ was going to bear that franchise's trademark.)
• The music featured in _Spy Hunter_ is portions of the theme from the television series _Peter Gunn,_ composed by Henry Mancini.
• The goal of _Spy Hunter_ is to drive the technologically advanced (and fictional) "G-6155 C.I.A. Protype Interceptor" car through the streets, destroying various enemy vehicles with front-mounted machine guns and other weapons.
◦ At certain points, the player will have the opportunity to transform the car into a speedboat by entering a boathouse.
• _Spy Hunter_ spawned a series of the same name and perhaps the worst sequel in gaming history, _Spy Hunter II_ (1987).
◦ The Family Computer (FC) or Famicom and Nintendo Entertainment System also got an (unofficial) entry by Sunsoft called _Super Spy Hunter (バトルフォーミュラ,_ lit. _Battle Formula)_ (1991).
