SRB2: 10th Anniversary Test - SP & MP Maps
Commonly known as the "Match beta", it was originally released on the "#srb2fun" IRC channel as a private test. Here, it was primarily meant to test out the new weapon systems for Match and CTF, which make it similar to weapon systems in many first-person shooter games. Once a weapon ring panel is picked up, it stays with the player until the player gets hit. Only one can be equipped at a time, although normal rings can still be fired with the secondary fire key. Ammo for the weapon ring can be replenished by picking up the ring that bears the same shape as the weapon ring or the weapon tile itself. The Homing ring was removed and Bounce, Grenade, and Scatter were added in this version, while Infinity remained as a timed powerup. Chaos Emeralds were also added to these gametypes, as they would spawn in random locations about a minute in the game. Collecting all 7 allows the player to turn Super. This release contains two CTF maps and three Match maps from previous versions that had been remade for the new weapon system. However, the campaign is also available in this version consisting of Greenflower Zone and Techno Hill Zone, as Castle Eggman Zone was removed and redone in the next release. There are also several changes such as new sprites for Crawlad and item boxes, and the act clear screen has no background and uses a frame from the in-game environment much like in the original Sonic games. The new save screen was also implemented, where upon playing a singleplayer game you'd need to choose an empty save file to start a new game from it/choose an existing save file to load the game. It autosaves at the first Act of each zone. This version disables the ability to load WAD files.
