Thoughts and opinions:
For those who have spent a significant amount of time playing Blackout in splitscreen, how would you describe your overall experience? And what feedback would you give for the purposes of making Blackout in splitscreen a better experience?
This poll is being conducted here on GameFAQs under the XBox and PS forums. It is to be conducted on YouTube as well.
Polls conducted for research purposes.
Blackout is the Battle Royale mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. It would be the first time the series features such a mode.
Most likely, it came at the expense of the game being able to have a Campaign.
But as it turned out, Blackout supports 2-Player via online splitscreen. That was a surprise to many, myself included. And while I was already aware that the in-development Crazy Justice's to feature splitscreen in some way, Blackout became the first Battle Royale to be available to the public with splitscreen support.
This would make it, the biggest mode in a First Person/Third Person Shooter to feature splitscreen, that I've seen yet. Do you know of any others?
The previous biggest mode I've both seen and played, would be the Skirmish (Walker Assault) mode that was added to the first Star Wars Battlefront game, sometime after it's release.
For comparison, Walker Assault is a 20v20 mode, that when in splitscreen, can only be played offline with AI Bots, Versus or Co-op.
Just like when playing solo however, Blackout in splitscreen is played online. Latest starting player count can reach up to 100, if I'm not mistaken.
Both these modes feature 2-Player splitscreen support and take place in large maps. Although areas are much bigger on the latter.
Technically speaking, those who play Blackout in splitscreen on the XBox One X, are likely to get the best experience overall, when compared to those playing in the XBox One.
Digital Foundry did a Blackout in splitscreen frame rate/performance test video involving all 4 consoles (XB1, XB1X, PS4, PS4P) that gave a pretty good idea of what to expect.

But for something of this magnitude to feature splitscreen on console, is quite impressive.
Here's hoping Treyarch continues to update/improve things to make Blackout in splitscreen a better experience for all.
And of course, here's hoping other developers follow suit!
Thanks you for your participation. And game on!
