Star Citizen is a game a lot of people have talked about. But also most of them haven't played it yet. It's has been under development in about 13 years as to date.
Pre-production of the game began in 2010 with production starting in 2011.

It has a world record of amount of dollars invested by fans. To give some of the mind boggling investments, that by Sep. 2022, a staggering 500 million Dollars.

With that many money people had posted into crowdfunding, or paid for deluxe packages with promises of a bigger than average- spaceship (when game got out on launch day), and plus that many years people waited for the game to be finally develped, it's no wonder that people speculated that the game were a money cash cow, or worse...a scam.

Some said the spaceship bought, were not an asset. But merely a donation to the company.
As I haven't played the game before, I will copy-paste from Reddit:
From user iSnipedAgain, that explain it:

"Most reasonable people want to help back the game and have the spare money to do so, getting a cool ship is secondary to that.

The ships offer different gameplay yes. Some ships are for exploring, some ships are for combat, some ships do mining and others carry cargo.

All of the ships you can buy with money will be available to purchase in game for in game money when it releases. A lot of them already are. For example the largest exploration ship in the game the Anvil Carrack is purchasable in game for in game money already but costs $600 to buy in real world money.

You can spend $40 for a starter pack and never spend another penny. It's a choice."
(End quote)

So in other words, it's like when you prepurchase a deluxe game, getting extra DLC to game that hasn't come out yet. You get something extra from the average gamer, if you can afford it. And at same time you support a company that you trust will deliver a game.
Kind of the same, but not the same.

Prices are higher for S.C. packs. Plus you don't get a release date as an Investor. But kind of the same. You get a little extra ingame, and support the company.

Durring the years, the software company behind Star Citizen, were giving out goldnuggets of tiny information of screenshots from the game they supposedly were working on. So that led naturally people to speculate. Are they giving some bits of development updates, just to keep investors interested and make them keep on investing, or were the team actually working hard to give people the most awesome game ever made?
In other words, were the screenshots just a carrot, to keep the money flowing, or would people actually get a totally awesome game in the end?

Anyway, lot of stories out there, when it's been a 13 year waiting time.

But to get to my experience of the game. Game still being in alpha mode. 15 GB file to install. And it required about 83 GB of HD space.

Even thou having average connection (300 Mbit), it took ~ 3 hours to DL, and install. Got an error because I needed an anti-cheat. Pretty standard in games. But not standard I had to look install method up.
Copy install path. In prompt, type "CD". And paste install path. Enter. Now inside the install path. Then copy paste this, and enter afterwards:

EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe install 54540c7a80fe48ea92ead64506b4ff53

Anti-cheat has been installed. And one can continue the install of S.C.

When I got my first scene in S.C, it were so slow and buggy, so I were unable to move around. But were stuck to my bed.
Later I got tip from the chat forum, I should use the "EU server" instead of "Best server".

But when choosed EU server, I could finally move. Even thou very slow.

Got another tip from chat, that I should probably have a RTX 40-generation card. Maybe a 4090.
That were not what min. req. were said to be.

Quad-core CPU plus 2GB video-ram. In other words, a computer made of wood. But that were fake news.

Besides I need to upgrade everthing to latest hardware, there's also a subscribtion fee.
There are currently two types of sub's:
Centurion ($10/m or $110/y)
Imperator ($20/m or $220/y)

To give the game a fair chance, I'm not give any reviews yet when it comes down to how entertaining it is. My computer were simply too slow to run it.

And some also okay with sub. based games. Like eg. Eve Online.
Pretty sure S.C. are graphically stunning, if you got latest hardware. Saw first time on the youtuber Asmongold's channel. Looked good:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=jOh7UyVwvyE

But looking good isn't enough. Takes more than nice graphics, to be a good game. Good storyline, varied, interactions. If I should play the game one day with high-end specs, I will see how it goes.

But I were very disapointed how bad the game run on my system, when off. min. req. were met. I know my computer are slow. Got a housefire in Feb. Lost everything. And put together a computer by parts. So it's a I5 CPU, 16 GB of ram. And my gfx card are at 4GB. So twice the min. req.

Thanks for watching. Regards from Krusty.
