The Star Fox team enter Sector X Combat Zone, and Andross is said to be working on a secret weapon. We then find the base in Sector X had already been destroyed, and they encounter a robot guardian that was meant to be Andross's secret weapon.

This is Sector X, and the enemies in the course are really fast, so we will need a careful aim to defeat then. When we arrive at the base, we have been beaten to it, as it has been destroyed. After getting past the checkpoint after Falco wonders what the heck is happening, Peppy will be under attack by a large group of enemies, if you have saved bombs, you can use them to destroy the enemies.
This did take many attempts due to how low Peppy's health was when I did that, as I wanted to try and keep everyone from being defeated, as they won't be available in the next area, but they will come back in the area after that.
Then you can go either left or right, left leads to the secret area, and Falco suggests you shoot down some gates, and this does lead to a warp much like the one in Meteos. The path of the right is the regular path, and during the travel, Peppy once again is under attack, he can't even get a break for once.
Before the boss fight, Falco gives us one of the best quotes in the game, that quote is "What the heck? Fox, look behind you!" That has to be a really funny quote, specially the moment Falco says "Fox, look behind you!", and the boss of this area is called Spyborg, a robot that was built by Andross, but it lost control and destroyed the base in Sector X, and Spyborg is my favourite boss in Star Fox 64, or Lylat Wars in Europe, specially when it says "Where is the creator?", that is another one of my favourite quotes in the game. Spyborg attacks by swinging its arms, and it can fire lasers from its eyes, and Spyborg's weak point is its eyes, and after defeating Spyborg, the battle is not over yet, and it is time for round 2, and if you take too long, Slippy will try to fight it, only to get knocked away, forcing you to go to Titania.
If you defeat Spyborg quick enough and don't let Slippy be knocked away, you get to move onto Macbeth, or if you took the warp gates, that will take you to Sector Z, which is on the Hard Path, and to earn the medal for Sector X, this requires 150 hits, if you have saved enough bombs, they can help destroy the hordes of enemies to get to the total amount of hits needed.
