The History: Star Trek: The Original Series. "Theme from Star Trek" (originally scored under the title "Where No Man Has Gone Before")is an instrumental musical piece written by Alexander Courage for Star Trek, the science fiction television series created by Gene Roddenberry and originally aired between September 8, 1966, and June 3, 1969. The music was played over both the opening and closing credits of the original series. The opening credits begin with the now-famous "Space: the final frontier" monologue recited by series star William Shatner, accompanied by an opening fanfare. The main theme begins, punctuated at several points by the Enterprise flying toward and past the camera with a "whoosh" sound for dramatic effect, created vocally by Courage himself.[2] A slightly longer version of the theme, minus the fanfare, was played over the closing credits, which were overlaid on a series of stills from various episodes. __________________________________________________________________
Star Trek: Enterprise. Enterprise is the soundtrack for the first season of Star Trek: Enterprise. It features the opening title song, "Where My Heart Will Take Me", as sung by Russell Watson, alongside instrumental compositions by Dennis McCarthy. It was rumoured that Jerry Goldsmith would compose the theme tune for Enterprise, having previously created the themes for both The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager. This was later denied on his official website, and series executive producer Rick Berman explained that they would be seeking to use "a little bit more contemporary kind of music". "Archer's Theme" is the instrumental piece of music used over the closing credits for the Star Trek: Enterprise series. It was composed by Dennis McCarthy. The theme was originally intended to be played over the opening credits of the show. __________________________________________________________________
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Dennis McCarthy (born 1945) is an American film score composer. His credits for TV series include the main title theme and other music for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, as well as music for Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise, The Twilight Zone (the 1985 revival), MacGyver, Sliders, Dawson's Creek, Birdland (1994), Having Our Say: The Delany Sisters' First 100 Years and V: The Final Battle. On June 30, 1993, between seasons one and two, DS9 followed the example of other Star Trek series in releasing the original score from its pilot episode on CD. The title theme was also made available as a CD single. Music from several other episodes is included on the The Best of Star Trek releases. __________________________________________________________________
Star Trek: Voyager. Unlike The Next Generation, where composer Jerry Goldsmith's theme from Star Trek: The Motion Picture was reused, Goldsmith composed and conducted an entirely new main theme for Voyager. As done with The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, a soundtrack album of the series' pilot episode ("Caretaker") and a CD single containing three variations of the main theme were released by Crescendo Records in 1995 between seasons one and two. __________________________________________________________________
