Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) - Cutscenes - PS2 Public Beta (Part 2)
178This time, we're not looking at the actual game but rather the video files. These are all cutscenes found within the INGAME.MVS file in the PS2 demo. A lot of the shorter clips from the movies were scrapped aside from the Hoth ones. I found the Episode III scenes to be pretty amusing. You'll see why. The Death Star cutscenes make no sense in the context of the story since the mission takes place before A New Hope. It seems like they may have originally had different plans for the mission (or perhaps even the campaign as a whole) as they also have Stormtrooper Luke and Stormtrooper Han models in the files. The Endor cutscenes are also puzzling as they don't seem like the kind of scenes you'd put into an Imperial campaign. Maybe the campaign was originally not about the 501st, who knows...
The 501st journal is kind of all over the place. First off, there's no outro cutscenes yet, only the intro ones. None of them are 100% finalized since the text was changed for all of them but some are more finalized than others. Some of them are missing any video. Some have some different footage of the game. The most interesting of the bunch are easily the Kamino cutscenes. Space Kamino's journal is pretty much the same as the final game's Kamino journal, however, Kamino's is completely different with new voice overs from Temuera Morrison! I thought that was really cool to discover.
Extracting these wasn't very tough but it was kind of a pain to do. I had to extract each file individually from INGAME.MVS, then convert them to formats that are actually usable.
