Star Wars Battlefront II (2005) - Scrapped Elimination Mode - PS2 Public Beta (Part 5)
Fun fact: the mode suffix, "eli", was re-purposed and used for Hero Assault once the Elimination game mode was scrapped. It was basically just Team Death Match but in space. Speaking of Team Death Match, that's a scrapped game mode too, but no mission scripts were ever made for it (or they were all removed before the final release of the game). What's strange is that the Elimination is based on a reinforcement system while the Space Yavin map is based on a points system like Hunt mode is. So it seems like the Space Yavin map is a bit more up to date. But since the mode doesn't appear in the Instant Action menus, despite the fact that the script exists for the mode, I just went with Space Hoth. Since the Space Yavin version is presumably more up to date than what is seen in the video, my restoration mod will be based on the points system rather than the reinforcement system.
There are noticeable differences between the Space Hoth map in the final release and the version seen here. The auto turret defense mainframes look completely different. Republic and Rebel hangar shields are red and even the CIS and Imperial hangar shields look a bit different in color. The Nebulon B Frigates were removed from the map and replaced with the GR-75 Transports.
Please excuse my poor skills. I can hardly stand playing the game on an emulator. Emulating a PS2 analog stick with a mouse doesn't work as well as I hoped it would.
