A quick video with gameplay of the recently released Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster, the new remastering by Nightdive Studios of a classic game, this time the first FPS of Star Wars, Dark Forces. It seems to me a good remaster, improves resolution, textures, sprites, cinematics, etc. Undoubtedly it is currently the best way to play this Lucas Arts classic. During the gameplay I switch between the remaster and the original game, as it can be done in real time by pressing F2.
I think it would have been nice if they had added some more improvements such as voxels at least for the sprites, and colored lighting, it would have been even better. Oh, and that they would have adapted the engine to work internally at 60 fps instead of the original 70, as it causes a certain lack of fluidity playing at 60 hz.
In this gameplay I show the first two missions (levels) of the game and a bit of the 3rd one, with the corresponding cinematic in between. I don't go further showing this remaster because I already have a complete gameplay of Dark Forces in HD with the source port The Force Engine (that I made before this remaster was announced).
One advantage that The Force Engine has over this Remaster is that you can play fan-made levels, so even though this remaster is better, it's still good that The Force Engine exists (plus it's free, if you have the 1995 game of course).
