Axalon plays through the StarCraft II campaign on Brutal difficulty, with a twist! The goal is to defeat the campaign using only classic StarCraft 1 / Brood War units. This is meant to emulate the Terrans improving on their standing technology, as opposed to making completely new armies.

Why? Because why not.

The rules:

- Can use only classic units from the original StarCraft/Brood War.
- Armory upgrades to classic units are allowed
- Protoss/Zerg tech upgrades are allowed
- When given a choice between a new unit and a classic one, always go with the classic one
- Medivacs are allowed as there are no classic dropships
- As an upgrade to the Command Center, MULEs are allowed.
- Mercenaries are allowed
- Anything goes on the Protoss missions
- Marauders can be used if the player wishes, as they are modified firebat suits--will not be used on this playthrough
- If the player wishes they can choose Spectres instead of Ghosts in honor of the cancelled StarCraft: Ghost game
