In this Starfield beginners guide tutorial video I show you how to get started with Scanning & Surveying Planets & Moons, how you can make that easier with the right training and perks through the skill-point system.
You'll want to at least know how to do a complete Survey of a Planet because it will earn you money when you sell the information to, amomngst others, Vladamir, a member of Constellation who resides on "The Eye" Satellite Telescope that orbits Jemison, in the Alpha Centauri System.
By doing surveys you'll also know which planets are good for your Outposts, and during the physical act of scanning minerals, flora & fauna, you'll discover Traits and abandoned structures that often will have great loot hidden inside. Just watch out for Spacers and angry enemy Robots!
To make scanning easier, consider putting your skill points into (and completing the challenger for) Surveying, Scanning & Astrophysics under the Science Heading, as these skills & perks will greatly improve your hand-held scanner & your ships scanner too.
