One of the criticisms laid at the door of Starfield prior to its release, was that it couldn't have the same exploration gameplay of No Mans Sky, simply because the Starfield Galaxy was human made, and No Mans Sky was procedurally generated.
People assumed that this would mean that all the "good" content and places would have to remain along the path of the main Storyline, Quests & Missions, but thankfully this just isn't the case.
When you go to a random system and land on a random planet or moon, there will be man-mage and natural structures, with all sorts of abandoned facilities guarded by Robots or NPCs, some which will be friendly and some which won't be.
In these locations you'll find all sorts of great gear, weapons and loot, and because the gunplay in Starfield is so good, you'll have a fun time clearing them out of enemies.
I don't really cover it in this video as the moon I land on is pretty barren, but on most planets you can also spend your time scanning and surveying the plants, animals and minerals, so you could find a good place for an Outpost Base, or to complete a survey and sell it back at The Eye.
