Steam was taken down, including the Store, yesterday by Valve. At the time, users were left in confusion and worry as some logged in to find they had accessed someone else's account, including their payment information and other personal data.

This was apparently not a hack or a DDOS, but a caching issue with Steam. Valve swiftly took down Steam to protect personal data, and Steam has now been restored with supposedly minimal damage.
