Stellar Nursery Protostars Observed in Orion
The Orion Nebula, also known as M42, is one of the most studied and fascinating places in the sky. It is a vast region of star formation, and it is possible to observe several protostars within it. These protostars are young stellar objects that are still in the process of formation, accumulating material from the cloud around them.
A protostar is an early stage in the formation of a star. It forms from a cloud of gas and dust that collapses under its own gravity. As the material in the cloud concentrates and heats up, it forms a dense and hot core, which is the protostar. Over time, if the protostar continues to accumulate material and reaches sufficiently high temperatures and pressures, it can initiate nuclear fusion reactions in its core, transforming itself into a true star.
