I play through both titles based on Godzilla: The Series, the animated follow-up to the 1998 Tristar Godzilla film. In the series and the games, the final egg from the film has hatched into a new Godzilla, who teams up with a team of plucky humans to fight other mutant monsters. For these games in particular, that translates to slowly trudging to the right while waves of tanks and such roll up to be blown up by your atomic breath. Yes, once again they have somehow turned Godzilla into an autoscrolling shooter!

The games loosely adapt episodes of the show, but they never really make it to "good" as far as quality is concerned. The sequel adds a bit more mechanical complexity which also increases the difficulty, but in both games the relative highlight is the occasional boss battle against another kaiju, and honestly the graphics aren't bad. When I'm finished both games I briefly show gameplay of the DS game Godzilla Unleashed: Double Smash since it struck me that they're quite similar.
