PREVIOUSLY:
After entering the castle, the party battles Lucia and manages to defeat her. Teresa manages to convince the Karayan leader to let them pass after promising to uncover the truth about the history between the Karayan tribe and the former Muse leaders.
Moving on inside the Highland headquarters, they are met by Genkaku's rival, Han Cunningham, who expresses regret that they could not prevent the battle between the Bright Shield Rune and the Black Sword Rune. A duel then ensues between the Genkaku disciple and the Highland general, with Riou coming out on top. Han apologizes to Riou for their weakness, and praises him for being a strong man. The party marches on as the former Black Sword Rune bearer succumbs to his wounds.
Arriving at the throne room's entrance, Seed and Culgan blocks their path. Motivated by the love for their nation, the two generals launch an all-out attack against Riou's party. The Dunan Army leader and his companions ultimately defeats the duo, who allows them passage as the two have no more strength to fight back.
Meanwhile, Jowy has a talk with Pilika and carries her for the final time. Jillia enters the room, with the Highland King explaining that he has prepared a place for them to live peacefully in the Kingdom of Harmonia before apologizing to her. Jillia rejects his apology and reveals that she had always loved him for his dreams and ambitions, despite knowing what he has done to her father and brother. The two shares a moment as they bid their final farewells.
